About Lexington County

As a resident of the Town of Lexington and Lexington County has been a true blessing. Over the last 10 years seen so much growth in the county which proves that people want to do business and live in Lexington. I am very proud to live in Lexington County and enjoy what it has to offer.

Lexington County and its county seat, the town of Lexington, were named for the battle of Lexington, Massachusetts, the first battle of the American Revolution.  In 1930 Lake Murray was created on the Saluda River in Lexington ounty, covering many of the old farms and creating new recreational opportunities for the county.

Lexington County is thriving because of its diverse population, varied economy, excellent schools, assorted transportation opportunities, and excellent recreational opportunities. Population growth is consistent, dynamic and dispersed throughout the county’s 750 square miles. The economy is balanced between high-tech industries, agriculture, significant regional retail centers, and a growing retirement destination.

The schools are perennially at or near the top of every ranking of school excellence – academic, athletic, music and other activities. Three different Interstate highways, two public airports, several private airports, and 4 rail lines link Lexington County and the world. Lake Murray is the largest single recreational attraction in the county yet is only one of many centers for recreation. In addition to the consistent population growth Lexington County is experiencing commercial, retail and industrial growth.
